28th & 29th July 2007
Ngee Ann Auditorium, Asian Civilizations Museum
They build our homes, our mega malls and care for our families. There are many who toil 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They are in our midst, living on our lands, but do we know them? Speak their names as our friends, our neighbours, our family? Tales Within Borders looks at the silent gaze and the inner voices of migrant workers who live, play and work amongst us.
Tales Within Borders was a multi-ethnic performance as well as a visual arts,
photo and video exhibition that celebrated the diversity in language and cultural heritage that are brought to our shores by our migrant worker friends. Through the performance, they shared their art, music and stories; the personal and the public, the intimate and the mundane. This piece also included a forum on migrant issues and a talk
back with the creators and actors of the piece.
This production was organized by Migrant Voices and the Singapore Drama Educators Association for Celebrate Drama! 2007.
