Grass Day Out is an outreach programme whereby our volunteers go down to migrant worker hotspots like Little India, City Plaza, Golden Mile and Orchard Road to interact with the migrant workers there. It's a very bohemian idea of befriending, sitting on the grass or pavement and basically enjoying the day off with them and getting them involved with us.

The idea is to get to know the workers, and to get them to tell us some of their stories. It could just as well be their childhood story, or about their children - involving elements of the Oral History Project. We want to share more of their stories, and to get to know more of them.

There'll be paint and drawing materials at hand as well, so just in case we can't talk, we can just paint, or do some on-the-spot theatre games.

It is quite an ad-lib project which allows us to really sit down and get to know a new friend.

Grass Day Out happens on the Last Sunday of every even month and the meeting time is usually 2pm.

The planned schedule for 2010 is:

- February: Little India
- April : Golden Mile Complex
- June: Lucky Plaza / Botanic Gardens
- August: Boon Lay / Jurong East
- October: City Plaza / Geylang Serai
- December: Aljunied / Geylang

If you are interested to participate, please email us at support@migrantvoices.org and we will let you know the confirmed location and meeting point.
