Migrant Voices was founded on 15 April 2006 and grew out of the realisation that many migrant workers turn to the arts as a release from their personal and work stresses.

Migrant Voices is a community arts charity established in 2006 to share the stories and celebrate the artistic talents of migrant workers in Singapore. It started out as a one-off music project as part of the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival in 2006 and has since evolved into a community arts organization incorporating Theatre, Music, Photography, Film, Storytelling and Oral History. Through the sharing of stories and creative discourse, Migrant Voices aims to provide a place for migrant workers in Singapore to showcase their talents, in addition to building cultural bridges and fostering mutual understanding. Art itself is very individualized and it is through this individuality that Migrant Voices hopes to portray a more human dimension to migrant workers as not only a community of different cultures but also as people who share the same dreams and common interests as the local community.
